SAVAGE SERVICES CORPORATION REACHES DEFINITIVE AGREEMENT
TO ACQUIRE THE BUSINESS OF SAFE HANDLING, INC. OF AUBURN, ME. Salt Lake City, Utah, November 10,
2009—Savage
Services Corporation of Salt Lake City, Utah (Savage) announces that it has entered into definitive agreements to
acquire the assets, terminals and services business of Safe Handling, Inc. of Auburn,
Maine (Safe Handling). The
transaction is expected to close on November 30, 2009. Safe
Handling is an industry leader and pioneer in providing full-service, bulk
product, chemical, toll processing, transportation, warehousing and
transloading services to customers through its two primary locations in Auburn,
ME and New Stanton, PA. In addition to the opportunity to leverage the benefits
of both rail and truck transportation (the company operates a fleet of tank
trucks dedicated to this specialized service), Safe Handling features ISO 9001:2001 and ISO 14001-certified, and
Responsible Care affiliated, manufacturing facilities where materials are
blended for regional deliveries. Safe
Handling operates a state-of-the-art, 80,000 square foot Toll Processing
Facility specializing in bulk chemical mixing, dispersing, slurrying,
dissolving, blending and diluting for Fortune 500 chemical producers. At Safe
Handling’s New Stanton, PA location, the company operates a large regional
warehousing, storage and transloading facility in conjunction with Westmoreland
County. Savage, a North
American leader in providing services to its customers engaged in oil refining,
chemicals, coal production, electric power generation, and the Class I
railroads, sees this opportunity to extend a 63-year tradition of service by increasing
its focus on specialized, customer-tailored transloading and handling systems. Savage today provides “Best Value-No
Worry” services in many arenas to its customers, through its extensive rail-truck
integrated transload network. Savage also owns
and/or operates large bulk terminals for coal, petroleum coke, sulphur and
other commodities; system-based transportation-truck, rail, barge and vessel-
moving over 50 million tons annually of coal, coke, waste coal, waste ash and
sulphur; and also provides on-site operations and management services for large
power plants and oil refiners. Savage
has over 140 operations in 35 US States and five Canadian Provinces. Savage’s Chairman

named to be the General Manager (and Savage Vice President) of Savage Safe Handling. Mr. Crist has
been with Savage for eight years,
most recently as Vice President and Business Manager of Savage’s Refinery and Sulphur Services Group. He and his family
will relocate to Auburn from Salt Lake City. He is a graduate of Brigham Young
University, and holds an MBA degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton
School of Business. Mr. John T. Wolanski, a graduate of the University of
Vermont, and formerly Vice President of Sales & Marketing of Safe Handling, will become Vice
President-Business Development for Savage
Safe Handling. Mr. Bob Drake of Safe
Handling, and a graduate of Boston University, will continue as Vice
